小王子一到了這個行星上，就很尊敬地向點燈的人還禮打號召：“早上好。你剛纔為甚麼把路燈滅了呢？”
“你曉得嗎，我能夠奉告你一種能使你歇息的體例，你要甚麼時候歇息都能夠。”
因而他又撲滅了路燈。
點燈的人說：“號令冇有改，悲劇在這裡了。這顆行星一年比一年轉得更快，而號令卻冇有改。”
"I do not understand," said the little prince.

"Good morning. Why have you just put out your lamp""Those are the orders," replied the lamplighter. "Good morning.""What are the orders"
“你的這顆行星如許小，你三步便能夠繞它一圈。你隻要漸漸地走，便能夠一向在太陽的暉映下，你想歇息的時候，你就如許走……那麼，你要白日有多長它就有多長。”
"But why have you just lighted it again""Those are the orders," replied the lamplighter.
“我乾的是一種可駭的職業。之前還說得疇昔，早上熄燈，早晨點燈，剩下時候，白日我就歇息，夜晚我就睡覺……”
As the little prince watched him, he felt that he loved this lamplighter who was so faithful to his orders. He remembered the sunsets which he himself had gone to seek, in other days, merely by pulling up his chair; and he wanted to help his friend.
